Mobile Device Management - (free)

Hi All,

Our organisation has +- 30 ipads - issued to our directors & board members over a period of about 3 months.

We have " put the handbrake on" for the moment due to concerns around the management of these devices.

We have considered maybe 5 different solutions - Airwatch, Mobileiron, Landesk & a few others.

Over the past few months we have distilled our requirements into a very simple, one action list :-

1.) Wipe the device - just like on the iPad - Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings..

That's it !!

We are happy enough with the re-config of the device because it requires the original Apple ID & password..

I know that Find My iPad can help, but we need another layer of device management, (for RMADS etc).

Now the question :- Can anyone recommend a (free) solution that can manage maybe 50 devices ?

When I say manage - Wipe the device - Erase All Content and Settings..

Meraki has been mentioned - any opinions / nuggets of relevant info ?

Thanks in advance

Kind Regards

George.

Try miradore

They have a free level of MDM and then they charge for added features.

No device limit but some features are free.

Meraki comes well recommended. Create a spam account and use that for Meraki. Give them your boss's phone number!!! 👿 😀

I've never heard of another fee MDM unless you happen to have Mac OS X server around.

Apple Configurator and Apple Profile Manager

"Apple Configurator makes it easy for anyone to mass configure and deploy iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in a school, business, or institution." Limited to Macs. Connects via USB cable.

"Profile Manager lets you configure OS X and iOS devices so they’re set up to use your company or school resources and have the settings, apps, and books your organization requires. Profile Manager creates settings and preference bundles for devices and deploys them to devices via the Mobile Device Management (MDM) service." Requires OS X server.
