Crash of Webkit in Safari

Running Mavericks, all updates

Since I updated bash (OS X bash Update 1.0 – OS X Mavericks) I realised crashes of Webkit repeatedly under Safari. I get the crashes even when extensions are disabled and I also checked for adware (AdwareMedic).

I can not reproduce the crashes reliably and they seem to occur randomly there to five ties per day. The frequency does not seem to be increased by the usage of extensions.

The System Messages have the following info:

I can provide the crash report if needed.

Any suggestions?

I was hoping somebody would stop by and give you some ideas, but I guess you are on your own.

The only thing I can offer is that the bash update did not change anything remotely associated with the WebKit framework and I am not aware of any use of bash by WebKit, so I'd have to say it's a coincidence or that nobody else seems to have reported it yet.

If it becomes a big issue then the first thing I would do is make sure you have a current backup then download and install the OS 10.9.5 Update (Combo). If that doesn't work then try booting from your Recover HD and re-install OS X. That won't touch your user files or third party apps, but gives you a totally fresh system -- About OS X Recovery. Then you can decide whether or not you want to re-install the bash update again.
