Oct 9, 2014 11:59 AM in response to Linc Davisby Derek49,Further to my previous email, Linc, I have a few questions after careful review.
FIRST LINK INSTRUCTIONS
1. I am running the latest OS X 10.9.5. So I should eventually see 2 "sandboxes"? Will only one have the necessary folder as noted?
2. a. It's a simple signature so do I need to make a text edit copy or can I simply set it as a new preference when I open Mail eventually?
2. b. Easy to redo any custom signatures re your "recreate" comment.
3. You say "back up all data". Do you mean the entire computer? Or just Mail data? If the latter, wouldn't that be saved in iCloud?
SECOND LINK INSTRUCTIONS (In the event the first link solution fails)
1. When you say "repeat" do you mean for me to move the aforementioned folder back to the desktop?
2. I would delete the folder as before and close the Finder window?
Obviously I need a lot of help! Thank you for sticking with this...

Oct 9, 2014 12:10 PM in response to Derek49by Linc Davis,After I posted that comment, I checked and found that in the current version of Mail, the signatures and templates won't be removed when you clear the sandboxes, so that part isn't applicable to you.
All data that you intend to keep must be backed up, whether you follow my instructions or not. Any data that isn't backed up will eventually be lost, no matter what you do. iCloud is not a backup.
There are two sandbox folders, and you should do the same thing with both of them.

Oct 9, 2014 12:43 PM in response to Linc Davisby Derek49,So a Time Machine backup is good I assume since you appear to be talking about the entire computer. Sorry, I'm a moron when it comes to some of this so I wasn't entirely clear what you meant...

Oct 9, 2014 1:03 PM in response to Derek49by Linc Davis,Many of the people who ask questions on this site don't back up their data at all, and some don't even know what a backup is. I try to ensure that they do back up before doing anything else.
