Oct 8, 2014 8:36 AM in response to ChitlinsCCby Ej911,I have closed and re loaded my email accounts, restarted my ipad tried everything except restoring it. I'm now convinced it's the mail app solely. The only thing I can't figure out is why it took several days for it to fail, I downloaded the ios 8 a few weeks ago, then added the fix the day it came out. The thing hasn't worked normally since the original update but it was tolerable. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a ploy by Apple to force me to purchase a newer ipad... just saying...

Oct 8, 2014 9:01 AM in response to ChitlinsCCby Ej911,I neglected to mention in reply to your thread, I set up the ipad myself, purchased it at an Apple store about 4 years ago. And I can't even get the email to load, it comes up a blank page with the 5 icon's across the top (flag, file, store, reply and write) and after about 13 seconds reverts back to the Utilities screen. I believe I've tried all suggestions. So I'm at a loss as to why this torture is being inflicted and until my geek friend can check it out I'll just get my email in Chrome or PC.

Oct 8, 2014 9:49 AM in response to Ej911by ChitlinsCC,Aha! Apple Store!! Nearby!?!? Take this to the Genius Bar where ALL diagnosis is FREE
make an appointment in advance by going here:
http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/
Where, on the left side of the page it says:
Visit the store page to get directions and hours, see a schedule of upcoming events and workshops, and make reservations for the Genius Bar and other services.
I would take the position that, since the iOS 8 is non-downgradable back to the working-fine iOS 7x, it is Apple's responsibility to fix this on the spot.
Good luck with this

methinks you have learned a great deal in this process - if nothing else, methodical troubleshooting methods.
It is curious that you say "... why it took several days to fail... etc" - it seems that you have isolated the buggy behavior to the iOS 8.0.2 update "...the day it came out." If it is true that you updated to iOS 8.0.2 and it took any lag time period at all to get the misbehavior and not immediately after the deed, that is indeed troubling and inexplicable.
Of course! Apple would love for you to purchase a new iPad, they are, after all, beholden to their shareholders not their customers.
I think that anyone could rightly conclude that iOS 8 has been a royal pain or many... but we cannot know how many happy campers there are, as they have no reason to come HERE and say how much they love it.
caveat emptor
