If you did not receive your password reset email I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If you didn't receive your Apple ID verification or reset email

It is a little bit late, but since I had the same problem like you, and tried searching for a way to find my way to sign out.
It seems that it is better for your iCloud to do things separately. Hopefully this works for you and everyone else viewing this forum.
Here is my solution;
1. Go to settings>iCloud>Find My Phone
2. Turn off Find My Phone. It will probably request a password for your permission.
3. Try signing out again.
