I left for school and my iPod had full battery. I came home and it was off. I figured it was dead so I plugged it into my computer to charge, and left for soccer. When I came back, it still wouldn't go on. It doesn't connect to my computer either. I let it sit 24 hours and tried again. Nothing happened. What should I do? I want to avoid the store at all costs.

I have the same problem and my iPod came in a little over a week ago and it has shut off on me a few times. It's currently off right now and it was almost fully charged. The first time that happened I tried charging it, pressing the home button, the power button and then both at the same time. Eventually it just came in by itself. But right now my iPod is taking a while to come back on... I don't know why

I may have a solution!!! Press the power button and the home button for 15 seconds!! It just worked for me
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
I figured it out. I held the power button for 4 seconds, both for 10, then the home for 15. It turned right back on.
