4 up printing of mac mini with pages

How do you print 4 up from a mac mini using pages. I have a 8.5 x 11 document flyer that I would like to print 4 up on a 8.5 x 11 sheet.

The nomenclature 4-up does just that. It reduces the content of four letter size pages to fit on one letter-sized page. Whether in a subsequent, PDF > Open in Preview to view the result below, or to a printer capable of imaging 4-up. If you printer does not support Postscript, then this is a limitation with your equipment, and not OS X printing capability. I use a Postscript laser printer.

Hey Geeks!

I am surprised no one has answered this yet. It is not a hard task to accomplish and the methods described here (using layout print option) works but just has one missing step. When you use the "layout" function to print "4" to a page, it is not duplicating your original 1-page document and turning it into 4 pages. This feature is assuming you already have 4 pages that you are simply wishing to print all 4 of them on one page.

So, the missing step is that, whatever single page that you want to make into a 4-up, you simply have to copy and paste that page 3 more times so you literally have a document that has 4 identical pages of the same information. From there, when you choose print > layout > pages per sheet = 4, you will see in your preview that you will now have those 4 pages on one. Of course from there you can "save as pdf" if you choose. I will also say that for me (still using OS 10.7.5) if you view your final PDF in preview it looks different than if you view it in a Acrobat.

My main complaint, in which I am open to solutions on, is that using this method creates an extra border around the 4 individual documents and this evenly centering the final 4-up (even in working with changing margins). So for me in creating smaller hand bill flyers using this method they are not centered which is a pain in the butt. I welcome any feedback anyone has if you have a trick in how to make the final 4-up PDF of the 4 individual documents be centered and not have that extra border. Here is an example.

Thanks!

What does my post say immediately before yours?

The reason the sizing is not exactly 25% of the original is because it is fitting inside the printable page margins and there is a further margin between each instance.

Also you did not notice this is a two year old post, and the O.P. never bothered responding so we assume was not all that interested.

You need to match the aspect ratio of the 'printable space' of the 4 up layout to the aspect ratio of the 'printable space' of the 1 up layout. This is done by reducing the size of the page margins. Since this will NOT change for subsequent documents, you should also eithee write it down, or save a document with the correct margins as a template.

Barry

PS: There is some guesswork (or some clclation) involved in doing this. You may decide the game isn't worth the candle, and choose to trim the current result.
