how can I view the hardwired clients on my airport extreme?

You cannot do it from airport utility because it is more a toy utility than a real utility these days.

The easiest way is to get an app that gives you a picture of your network.

Try Fing on your phone or ipad.

There are probably lots of equivalents for the Mac but I don't know them.

If your extreme is an older one (N not AC).. a useful app is peakhour.

It is not free like Fing but it can show you not only the IP of all the connected computers but also the bandwidth usage.

The store contains an overwhelming number of apps in the network arena.

I have AirPort Utilities on my MacBook Air and all you do is click on the Picture of any device in the Network and a popup will show you the devices currently connected via WiFi to that Airport Device. Said differently I have an Airport Extreme and two Airport Express units supporting my WiFi and if I click on one of the Airport Express units I can specifically see that my Apple TV, my iPhone and my iPad. Odd thing is, my Airport Utilities App on my iPhone shows the same network but will not show what devices are being supported.

The OP asked specifically for hardwired clients.. they are not shown in the new utility. They were in the old one.

I had a need to find all the clients getting an IP from my AE and ran into the same issue, only being able to see wireless clients. I would love to hear an explanation from Apple as to why they removed this functionality from the Airport Utility.

Meanwhile....if you have an iPhone or iPad, you might want to take a look at Fing.....which will show you each device connected to your network via wired and wireless connections.

Somewhat equivalent to Fing for the Mac is iNet Network Toolbox which will map your current network configuration.

Very helpful. I am upset that AirPort Utility does not allow me to see what is actually plugged in. I find this very strange!!
