Q: Acute accent for Russian Cyrillic Keyboard
I am learning Russian, and need to add stress marks to words to remember. The problem is: I can't work out how to do this in either the Russian or Russian Phonetic keyboard options for a Mac (OSX 10.9).
Any help?
I've spent a few hours trying to find an answer already. I've tried downloading various keyboard apps that don't seem to work. I've tried playing with the Unicode, but without success. I'm not a computer whizz, and don't feel comfortable messing with code, or somehow crafting or customizing my own keyboard. Also, I don't consider saving a list of letters with accents to cut and past to be a solution - it's so slow and there must be a better solution.
I have seen people with 'Russian with Stress' keyboard options on their macs, so know some solution to this does exist, but where or how?!
Thanks very much for any help!
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

You just put the .keylayout file in Library/Keyboard Layouts, logout/login, go to system prefs/keyboard/input sources and use the plus and add buttons to add the keyboard, then select it in the flag menu at the top right of the screen.
(If the downloaded file ends in .keylayout.txt, delete the .txt part from the name)
Also you could make shortcuts in system prefs/keyboard/text/symbol and text substitution for the accented versions of the letters.
