iOS Messages - I can "Save" an attachment, but where does it go?

I noticed today that in Messages in iOS 8 I can choose to "Save" an attached file (in this case, an audio file sent to me by a friend who I assume was using Messages on his Mac). When I long-press on the file and get the menu popup, one of the options is "Save". The problem is: I have no idea where it has been saved to. I thought it might be saving it to the new iCloud Drive, but it is not. Anyone with any insight into what "Save" means in this context?

It gets saved to voice memos.

Thanks for the reply Norm. However, this question isn't about the new audio/video messages that automatically delete after 2 minutes. This has to do with an actual file that was received (see the screenshot I included).

Any idea where these files get "saved" to??

Hello Ben D:::,

So by default, the audio and video messages are only kept for 2 minutes. When you click save, they just remain in your messages thread. If you click on details of the message thread, you can see all the attachments and if you want to save it, then you will need to email it to your self when you try to share the message.
