MacBook Air not mirroring

I am using MacBook Air (mid 2011) running (OS X 10.9.5) and my newly purchased Apple TV (software updated)

I do not get the mirroring button on my MacBook Air

When I go to system preferences and click on displays, it says: "Airplay Display: No devices detected"

My MacBook and the Apple TV are definitely on the same wireless network

When I use my iPhone 5 (on the same wireless network), mirroring works perfectly with the Apple TV

Help!!

Exactly which MBA do you have? Are you SURE it's a mid 2011?

I checked my serial number on the apple web site (https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do)

The serial number is C0******JWT

The result says that it is a 13" mid 2011

You're correct, it is a mid 2011. Take a look at the troubleshooting steps I linked to.

i am having the same problem. how come i cant connect to the apple TV.

The software update is up to date

The firewall instructions I already tried and still nothing.

I'm struggling with this - my ipad/iphone will play to my apple tv, but not mac book pro which is mid 2011 & all up to day.

Interestingly enough the display settings say "Airplay Display: No devices detected" but my apple TV is still working every other way - any advice? Thanks

Make sure your AppleTV is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Then be sure that your computer is connected to the exact same Wi-Fi connection that your AppleTV is connected to.
