Today I started receiving a strange dialog box requesting my iCloud password associated with my Apple ID email address.
I did update my Skype application today, and it asked to use my contacts. Is this why I am being asked for my iCloud password? How can I stop this password request? And if this request is coming from Skype, would it be better if if identified what my iCloud password is being requested?
Thoughts on this?

One other thing. As far as I can tell on the Mac Pro that this is happening on, I am logged into iCloud already, and this request is not showing up on my MacBook Pro.
In iCloud, I am sharing my contacts, safari, and iPhoto data, but that is it. I'm not using iCloud to store files.
Could this have something to do with FaceTime? Facetime is also asking for my Apple ID password as well now.
It doesn't seem like so. FaceTime.app is working normally without asking my password in my case (MacMini OS 10.9.5 and iPhone6 iOS 8.0.2 with the two-step verification feature for my Apple ID).
