Q: No Service - iPad2, started with iOS 8 upgrade

I have been using my iPad2 for more than a year now daily, no changes in my daily routines or locations.

After upgrading to iOS8 my iPad2 displayed "No Service" every night for about a week. Now it has every now and then been OK, but mostly still "No Service" in the evening when I have returned from my daily routines.

One friend of mine told me at the beginning (of upgrading to 8.0.x) that he does not see this with his iPad 2. That was until he went for a trip. He tells me now that it happens several times daily.

This started after installing the 8.0.0, it continues now when I have the 8.0.2 installed.

We both have our Wi-Fi active and are leaning towards this hypothesis: The 3G network stays on OK if our WLAN is disabled. But if the WLAN is active and the iPad 2 looses the WLAN connection, sometimes (randomly?) the 3G network will NOT get activated.

Putting the iPad to the "Flight Mode" and back does NOT get the 3G back.

Powering off and on will always get the 3G connectivity back.

Any hints what to do?
