My iPod 5 shows the incorrect time and date.

My iPod touch 5th generation will not display the correct time or date. No matter what I do, it changes back to December 31, 1969. I know this is usually a error that corrects itself, but it has not for 24 hours. My iPod is up to date, but says I need to update to iOS 8.0.2, even though I have already done so. When I try to re install it, it says the update is unavailable.

I have done the following:

Reset/turned off the iPod

Tried to manually set the date and time, but no matter how far I go it snaps back to December 31, 1969 7:00 PM

Set the time and date automatically (it gives me a loading symbol for forever)

Closed out everything and reset the wifi

Charged it on a computer with the correct date

And this problem is still here. I can't message anyone, update certain websites or email, and Messages always crashes. My Time Zone is correct, too.

Can anyone help??

Yes, it is. And another thing started happening, the date would not go past 2002 when I manually set it. I waited a few hours and tried again, this time passing 2002, but getting into years such as 2038. Now it also snaps to a random date, ranging from 2038 to 1969 randomly and illogically (i.e. I'll move the day up a few and it will go from year 2036 to 1970.
