how do you remove the "protected" part of aac file

I want to change an aac file to an mp3 file so I can put it on a device but it says "protected" on my itunes info page. I want to remove the protection so I can change to an mp3 file.

note 3 phone-OTHER, Windows 8

You could upgrade older purchases to iTunes plus files - basically 256kbps AAC without DRM. There was a fee involved, I can't see how you view this in the store though.


arthur1008, if you go the 'burn CD & rip route' try to burn full albums in correct play order so you stand a chance of getting gracenote automatic title matches, otherwise you may have to enter the tags manually.
