Q: Apple ID troubles

For whatever reason, my apple ID is acting all weird. I use it to text on my iPod and it works fine, but for some reason, I tried logging onto it on my macbook, and it says my password is incorrect. At first, I thought it would be no big deal, I figured I'd just reset the password. When I got to apple.com to reset everything, it said that it can't find my apple ID with the email address I use. And when I tired to create a new apple ID (using the email address with issues) it said that the email address was already in use. So although I'm using it just fine on my iPod on messages, however the same cannot be said for my macbook messaging. Anyone have any ideas about what's going on and how to fix it?

    Hi,

I would test the various places you can use the Apple /iCloud ID  on your Mac and it's app to find out precisely where the issue is.

In System Preferences > Internet Accounts > iCloud try turning off the various check boxes for the Contacts app and so forth.

Can you log in to the iTunes Store ?

Can you login to the App Store ?  (these two servers have a fair bit of cross over)

Can you do a Web Login to iCloud .com ?

    Does FaceTime login in ?

    Or Game Center ?

I presume it is the ID you are logging in here to post with ?

There can be issues with the iMessages Login in Messages, FaceTime and the Game Center  which can be linked to these issues.

FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues  And you can experience the same if the Serial Number is not present.

The Registration Process uses the Serial Number to create an Auth Token instead of a plain Keychain Password item.

It might be that you have to contact Apple Support and explain you have an Account issue (Software and Hardware issues tend to Cost) and have them fix it.
