Oct 10, 2014 9:36 PM in response to wileyscornerby randers4,If you're trying to download it on an iOS device, you may not have "Show All Music" turned on in Settings>Music. Compare what you're doing to this: http://www.imore.com/how-download-songs-innocence-album-u2-free-iphone-and-ipad.

Oct 11, 2014 6:12 AM in response to randers4by wileyscorner,randers4 no I am trying to do it on a Dell PC with windows Vista. So no help. Still need an answer.

Oct 11, 2014 8:13 AM in response to wileyscornerby randers4,You should be able to download it by launching iTunes on your PC, click on the iTunes Store, click on Purchased under Quick Links on the right, select the Music tab, then click the iCloud download symbol on the corner of the Songs of Innocence album. Note: you will need to live in a country where downloading previously purchased music is available (check the music column in this article: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability).
This is explained under "Download previous purchases on Mac or PC" here: Download past purchases.

Oct 11, 2014 8:40 AM in response to wileyscornerby randers4,It's the same on any PC, including Vista on a Dell. It only requires iTunes 10.3 or later and an iTunes store account, as explained in the article I gave you the link for. If you want to talk to Apple about it, go to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click See All Products & Services>iTunes>iTunes Store>Purchases, Billing & Redemption.

Oct 11, 2014 8:54 AM in response to randers4by wileyscorner, randers again it does not show a cloud icon in iTunes with windows vista. So it is impossible to download the U2 freeby if you only have windows vista. My newer pc has Window 8.1 and it works fine. But in apple support it says must have windows 7 or 8 to work icloud. Was hoping there was a way to do it with windows vista.

Oct 11, 2014 9:11 AM in response to wileyscornerby randers4,Two points. First, Apple support was incorrect if they told you that you needed Windows 7 or 8 to sign into iCloud on a PC. There is a separate iCloud control panel for Vista users you can download here: iCloud Control Panel 2.1.3 for Windows Vista.
Second, and more the point, the cloud symbols you see when you download previous purchases from the iTunes store has nothing to do with having an iCloud account. This is a separate service called "iTunes in the Cloud", which does not use or require having an iCloud account. When you download from "iTunes in the Cloud" you are only downloading previous purchased from the iTunes store over the internet, not syncing data with and iCloud account.
The only setting in iTunes that would prevent you from seeing iCloud symbols next to your "iTunes in the Cloud purchases" would be the one in Edit>Settings>Store, where you should check "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases".

Oct 11, 2014 10:20 AM in response to wileyscornerby randers4,You don't need about an ICloud account in order to download the U2 album. As I mentioned, you don't need an ICloud account to do that. You only need an iTunes Store account.
If you want to sync your Vista pm with icloud though, you first need to create your iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod touch) or Mac. Once you've done that you can then sign into the account on the iCloud control panel that you installed.

Oct 11, 2014 10:34 AM in response to randers4by wileyscorner,randers4 I only have an older ipod not an ipod touch. As I don’t buy the latest devices just when the one I have doesn’t work no more. I appreciate your advice. I will keep it stored so that if I do buy a new ios device I can set up an icloud account.
