Q: Another bootcamp/win7 install issue 15"MBP with USB: please help.

I have gone though to many tutorials and news groups and discussions on here that I really can't make heads nor tales of anything anymore.

I have an early 2011 MBP15"

I took out the dvd drive and put in a 500gb hard drive a while back.

I used BOOTCAMP to create a USB and BOOTCAMP partition for Windows.

I have a WIndows 7 ISO downloaded, and burned onto a DVD (only speed available was 4x, no 2x option.)

I have the same Windows 7 ISO on the same bootcamp made USB drive.

I have WIndows Support Files installed onto the USB drive via Bootcamp.

The DVD shows up in the start up menu, but when it loads it boot to "CDBOOT: COULDN'T FIND BOOT MGR".

Attached are pics of the BOOTCAMP menu.

I have tried UBUNTU: doesn't show up at all.

Installed rEFIT...does not show up/work/do anything.

Tried booting from the EFI dish in Start Up, and the screen locks up after I click enter on the EFI disk.

I try booting from the recognized Windows CD and it give me "CDBOOT: COULDN'T FIND BOOTMGR" message.

Seriously, can someone walk me through this.

I have VMWare installed and tried manipulating that to see the BOOTCAMP partition and it doesn't see it....I am at a loss here.

I have tried a hundred manipulations to try and simply install f**king Windows on a 100gb partition, and this is like reprogramming Voyager.

Thanks.

Really?! No one has figured this out, or can help me out with this?

Can you tell me if I am missing something? Using the wrong ISO? Missing a bootrom version in package contents of bootcamp?

    Anything?

So I try booting without the DVD player attached, and there is no Windows option or startup item.

I try booting with the DVD plugged in, but without the USB attached, and I get the Windows DVD to show as a start up option: I click it and it sits with a black screen and the blinking prompt.

I am seriously at a loss here folks.  What the heck.

    The machine sees the DVD.

It does not see or acknowledge the USB stick as anything past the BOOTCAMP function of putting files on it, but nothing happens with it past that.

Am I missing something in BootCamp?  Am I missing an option?

    Cello?

So I managed to get a hack to work that would allow Bootcamp to see and install Windows and  Support Files onto a USB stick.

Machine reboots, and I get either "CDBOOT: couldn't find BOOT MGR" or "No Bootable Device: insert Boot Disk".

If I try and use the DVD with official Windows ISO, it just sits there at the prompt....nada.

I followed another persons advice and installed WintoBootic on Virtual Machine Windows...did not work-wouldn't see the USB drive.

Followed another persons fix and installed Win 7 Download USB DVD tool.  It was able to see and recognize the USB, and even installed windows on it.....but the MAC woun't see it to start up from.  Holding Option key won't see it.

Anything else you all can recommend.  Well, I don't literally mean 'you ALL'...since not a ******* one of you has replied or helped at all.

    THanks.

I've never used Boot Camp, so I'm no expert. Your screen shots aren't showing up due to the underlying software that runs the community.

I used BOOTCAMP to create a USB and BOOTCAMP partition for Windows.

Boot Camp to create USB? What are you trying to do? Boot Camp can't be installed on an external drive.

You can't boot a Mac off Windows software.

Which of the 2 internal hard drives are you trying to install Boot Camp on?
