My pictures won't show up in my messages I just get a grey box that tells me it's a JPEG

WHen I go to my messages I can't see photis. I only get a grey box that says which picture it is and that its a JPEG. Is there away to get them back? I have a 5s and iOS 8.2.

iPhone 5s, iOS 8

In your user folder go to (Library > Messages) then you SHOULD see a file called Attachments that takes up zero bytes. Delete that file and create a new folder inside of the Messages folder called "Attachments"
