What happens when you try? Error message?

To activate you have to enter the ID and password last used for Settings>iCloud. In most cases the Apple ID is used for Settings>iCloud but not always.

A similar thing happened to me. I had to reset my iPod 5th due to a glitch and it asked me to enter the original Apple ID to activate my iPod. it says I need to "enter the Apple ID and password that were used to set up this iPod." But that ID doesn't work for some reason.

(When I first got my iPod I used that ID but soon, unexpectedly, a message began popping up when I used it that my apple ID or p-word was incorrect. I had never changed the password or anything but whenever I tried to download apps or songs and had to enter my p-word it said it was incorrect, so I was forced to make a new one. I never deleted it but on the apple site when I tried "forgot my apple ID or p-word" to recover it the page said that ID didn't exist. I supposed that somehow my ID was hacked and the password was changed or something and deleted. Of course, I made a new Apple ID but now I face this problem).

I don't know what to do because my iPod wants an ID that doesn't exist!!! What do I DO???

As in my previous reply you have to:

You have to be the original owner/purchaser and have proof of purchase
