Safari freezes quite frequently, either when I'm typing something in a discussion for e.g. or just browsing. I have to press the home key and shut down Safari and relaunch to cure the problem.
It's annoying and also looses the data I was entering prior to the freeze.
Has anyone got any suggestions please on how to solve the issue?

Yes, I solved it by switching to Chrome. I'll be happy to go back to Safari once they get iOS 8 properly fixed.

I have the same problem on mobile Safari. It happens multiple times a day when I'm typing on one of the forums I use. I've restored to factory settings on 8.1 and it still happens. It's been happening since 8.0, but it's much more frequent now.
I have the same type problem with Safari freezing up at times. When typing, a letter gets stuck sticking out big. This started with iOS 8.
We all need to report this to Apple. The more bug reports they get, the more likely they will be to fix it. I reported it last night.
