iPhone is stuck in headphone mode

I hadn't used the headphones before this happened. I've tried cleaning out the jack with a match (it looks very clean) and plugging the headphones in and out several times whilst watching a video. Neither worked.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

so I read through this forum on all the solutions and none of them worked. However the ONE that did was SETTINGS>GENERAL>RESET>RESET NETOWRK SETTINGS. This only removes any passwords you have for wireless networks and does not reset any personal things such as pics, contacts, etc. After the the phone came back on work right away!

What did was I blew into the jack and got a cotton ball and took a small peace of held it from one side and turned the other side so than I put it in the jack all the way and made sure that I left a little bit of the cotton ball out so than I can talk it. So when the cotton ball was inside I turned it so that the debris or water inside can get stuck to the cotton ball and pulled it out. When I pulled it out I turned my phone off and it made sound.

I've tried ALL the other methods suggested on the internet, and NONE worked, except one: the airplane mode one. I tried leaving my phone in airplane mode for 15 minutes, and nothing happened, so I just assumed it didn't work. However, after looking at the replies on these threads, I tried again, but I left it overnight. IT WORKED! Try this, it might work for you too 🙂

I was out in heavy rain for 30 seconds with phone in my pocket and wasn’t aware that it had got damp but that must have been the cause.

Having seen this thread I connected to a Bluetooth device and switched airplane mode on. The volume control then reverted to showing normal volume not headphones. When I turned off both airplane mode and Bluetooth, the volume stayed in normal speaker mode, so all good again.

Whether this was a coincidence that the headphone socket dried out at this point I don’t know. I suspect that allowing the phone to gently dry is probably key. The bag of rice tip found elsewhere is worth using, as I would have gone to that next, as it has worked with my wife’s phone when dropped down the toilet.

I've been trying to get this issue fixed on my iPhone 6 almost all day. I never use headphones and my phone has never had any water or physical damage. I tried SO MANY things and what finally worked for me was this.. HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME UP AND DOWN BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME, WHILE STILL HOLDING THESE DO A HARD RESET. SO ALL THE STEPS YOU WILL DO AT THE SAME TIME ARE HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME UP AND DOWN BUTTONS WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE HOME BUTTON AS WELL AS THE BUTTON ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR PHONE. ONCE YOU SEE THE WHITE SCREEN WITH THE APPLE YOU CAN LET GO OF ALL BUTTONS. THIS SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE! I really hope this saves someone a lot of the hassle I've been through!!

After an hour trying to solve this, there's a solution that finally worked for me.

Water from the rain entered my iphone's earjack which i didn't know at first. Opened spotify and play a music. Tried to put a tiny rolled tissue on it then I noticed that it's wet. Tried to put it in again with a force. The music was paused, then I clicked play and it starts to sound loud and right.
