iPhone is stuck in headphone mode

And eventually updated Pokémon Go. The game started running and boom, the audio was back on through the speakers. I had just come back from skiing and figured a flake of snow got in there or something. Cleaned the audio jack with a tiny brush and some isopropyl alcohol. Removed a lot of lint from it too. Who knows, 2 hours later maybe it was dry enough, or the random software update gave it a kick start. I'll never know.

So my phones been stuck in headphone mode too. I looked through all the comments and I found the one that worked was sucking out on the headphone hole.. well hope it works for others! Have a good one!

Worked like a charm! I called voicemail and put it on speaker, plugged in headphones, unplugged and did it a second time. Turned the speaker then tried the headphones again and poof, problem solved. Yay!! Thank you!

Thank you very much. Nothing else helped. I tried all other suggestions and yours worked. I woke up and all of a sudden I couldn't make calls bc no one could hear me and I couldn't hear them. Headphone volume was the only clue I had when I tried to turn up the volume.

Thank you cedrey, spent hours trying all the fixes on here, I killed all applications and now its working perfectly again. Though I do have to say, it always rang when I phoned myself from the landline and the speaker during the call worked too only to return to headphone mode when I hung up. Only text message alerts, notifications, keyboard sounds and music/video apps were silent.

before trying all the software suggestions, resort to getting a Q-tip from your bathroom and cleaning the headphone jack. a few rotations showed some black residue lodged inside. music started playing as soon as the jack was clean...

My dad put some Wd40 on my headphone jack plug, put it in and out the headphone jack on my phone a couple times which loosened up the "balls" inside the phone that grasp the jack plug, and it was fixed immediately after trying all the other lame ideas.

Just in case anyone is struggling with this problem and a clean headphone jack, the Voice Memo trick worked for me. Open it up and hit the speaker button so it turns blue. Nothing else worked until that For me.

I tried everything as well. Tried drying out the headphone jack with a really strong hand dryer in my office. Tried resetting the network settings, tried plugging and unplugging the headphone jack several times, played around with the volume buttons, NOTHING!

Then I put the phone on Airplane mode for about 10 minutes and that Finally worked!!!!

My story was yours exactly and I tried Airplane Mode but it didn't work immediately. I was actually waiting for a support chat when a text came in with sound, then I tried YouTube and a phone call and all worked!!! THANK YOU!

I tried eth from plugging and unplugging,blowing compressed air and airplanes mode..Nothing worked for iPhone 6 which was wet in shower..The pin thing worked for me..I was bit reluctant on trying this stupid technique..BUT IT WORKED.m so happy:-)two people are very smart:iPhone makers and iPhone users

This headphone syndrome started only after I used an unknown jack to play my music. This must have bent my s/w temporally

I also noticed something funny while charging my iPhone..it kept stopping to charge intermittently!

So after trying everything mentioned in the forum which didn't work I simply tried doing a Software Update check in Settings General which confirm my s/w was updated and then everything returned to normal...!

I had never used headphones when this happened to me. After trying everything, my husband saw one person who said to do a hard reset while simultaneously holding down the volume up and down buttons. Worked immediately. I would definitely recommend this to anyone before poking and prodding at your iPhone. It's super easy and worked like a charm! I hope this helps someone! :)

Thank you. I tried this test and it worked pretty well. I used a small piece of cotton instead of paper clip and slide it in and out using a small stick along with playing music. Trying it for 4-5 times, I observed music was paused and then realized the headphone signed went away and I started seeing volume sign back again.

I just fixed this problem by doing a hard reset. A hard reset is when you hold down the power button and the home button at the same time(like a screenshot, but holding them down). After holding both down for a few seconds, the screen will go black and then your phone will turn on. Turn the ringer on, and it should say "ringer" instead of "headphones".
