School issues MacBook Air to students, students log into iMessage, 2 days later the school blocks imessage, 8 weeks later they collect a computer because of some illegal music downloads, then without the student knowing, the school unblocks imessage and the computer grabs all the imessages from the cloud, they use the messages to search the students car, can the school access the cloud in tis matter,

Cs, thanks for a quick reply, nice avatar, greed their property, but the messages were not on the computer they were on the students cloud, so maybe a simpler question would be can the school access the cloud of the student, curious about precedents/case law exaples
Anything on the Mac is fair game, so if a functional login to the account exists (or the account is already connected) then the school has access. Changing the account password will put a stop to that, once it is changed of course. Right now whatever is accessible from the machine is accessible to the school.
I can't answer that, does the school policy allow students to attach personal accounts to school property?
They have their Mac back, they can do as they wish, if there are things in the account that you do not want them to see change your password, but it may already be too late.
Cs, very perceptive, they do have the Computer, iMessage has been changed, so they no longer are viewing the imessages that are coming in, but they are looking at the ones that were downloaded, so yes too late. I would love to hear some case law on this issue as it seems it is pretty new! I can see where any imessages on the computer were fair game, or anything else on the computer, but to reach out to the icloud and grab what is assumed is private becomes that vert fun "slippery slope"
I missed your question, I would assume yes they do allow it, as students were encouraged to create apple ID's, Twitter is not blocked, nor Facebook, they also sign on to a variety of web based prpgrams that require accounts
Yes, the computer is their property.
Seems logical, throw one more out for the community and of course, Cs, said student logs into imessage, school blocks it, should students be allowed to sign out at some point?
