Making business cards in pages?

I am trying to find a business card layout - but I don't seem to have one. How can I create on or find one so that I can print my own business cards?

Yours won't be the worst phrased question we have had, but...

As a principle, do you understand you have to explain what it is you want to get a useful answer?

We can't guess when we can't see what it is you are looking at, not even what version of Pages you are using.

At least we have finally got to what it was you wanted.

What you want is the template for an Avery or similar business card sheet?

In that case go to their website and download the Word template for the particular sheet and open that in Pages, whatever version that is. As Viking told you, he guessed better than I did.

You can download Avery business card (template only - mac & pc selection) MS Word templates for use in Pages ’09, or Pages v5 — there are however, some notable caveats.

  • Each apparent card shape is two entities in the following stacking order
    • A hidden table cell
    • A bordered shape
  • Make certain that you have the Avery business card stock recommended for the specific template.

Both versions of Pages throw a warning, “Objects in table cells were removed.” The shapes remain in place, but all of the hidden table cells are jammed into the upper left corner of the template document. Clicking in the upper left corner of the first card shape will select a table. Right-click on the black table bullseye, and choose cut. You will have to repeat the previous sentence seven more times for an 8 card layout. Now you are left with just the card shapes. This would be a good time to save this document, and then again, Save as Template. I would name the template (e.g. Avery-biz-5881) to remind you which card stock to use.

Presuming that you have separately designed a card that is 3.50 inch wide by 2.00 inch high (wide format), select the first card shape by clicking on an edge. On the Style tab panel, click on the word Fill, and choose Image Fill. You want scale to fit. Then choose your business card graphic from the associated file chooser. While the shape is selected, you may want to change Border from Line to No Border. Repeat this process for the remaining card shapes on the sheet.

Thanks for replying!

I am having a hard time finding one - I don't have one in my template chooser at all, and whenever I google for instructions there are steps to choose a business card page layout - but I can't seem to do that in my version of Pages. I have started looking through the links you posted, maybe they will help.

I really don't understand why my Pages doesn't have a built in business card template or layout. That would seem like a common thing for people to use!

Also, I should clarify - I just want the formatting, I don't want a design template. Blank template, but separated sections that are the right size to print out on business card sheets.
