Q: Continuously have to restart apple tv

I'm having issues with apple tv intermittently working and constantly rebuffing. This is happening when I'm streaming, air play, and using home share, pretty much every option is giving me problems. To fix the issue I have to restart apple tv then it will work for a little while. I just bought this 3 weeks ago and believe it might be a hardware issue. I've had no issues with my internet and know that's not the issue. Has anyone run into this issue?

    Hello sflip09,

It sounds like you are using various Apple TV services but the connection is is intermitent at best until you restart the device. I would next use these steps from the following article:

Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

    1. Try restarting your Wi-Fi router or modem by turning it off and then on again.

If possible, connect an Ethernet cable and verify your Internet connection. If you can connect to the Internet using an Ethernet connection, verify that your Apple TV is using the latest software by choosing Settings > General > Software Update. If your Apple TV can be updated, install the update and then try the steps again.

Apple TV unexpectedly disconnects from the Wi-Fi network or signal strength is weak or fluctuates

    1. Check for any obstructions and adjust the location of your router or Apple TV; also check for sources of potential interference.
    2. Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware.
      • For an AirPort Base Station, refer to this article for information about firmware updates. For third-party Wi-Fi routers, check the manufacturer's website for details on updating your firmware.

If after attempting the above steps, your Apple TV is still unable to connect to your Wi-Fi network:

    1. Restart your Apple TV: Choose Settings > General > Restart.
    2. If you can connect to the Internet using an Ethernet connection, verify that your Apple TV is using the latest software by choosing Settings > General > Software Update. If your Apple TV can be updated, install the update and test again.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    All the very best,

    Sterling

    Sterling,

Thanks for the reply. I had done everything you mentioned several times. I returned the apple tv this past weekend for a new one and it works the way it should. I'm pretty convinced it was a hardware issue.
