Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications&gt;Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it&#x27;s trying to repair the Hard Drive &amp; clear caches.)See if you can disable Spotlight by adding all drives to System Preferences&gt;Spotlight&gt; Privacy tab while in Safe Mode.

DiskWarrior and TechTool did not solved the problem. Perhaps aggravated because the hard disk icon in the Finder was not found.I selected the system disk, ie, I noticed by default, but it appeared the gray background with the Apple logo and wheel rolling without stopping. I forced a reboot with the power button.After several repair attempts, I restarted the computer with the "alt + s" keys.Then I typed "/sbin/fsck -fx" several times until the screen printed in the message that everything was correct. I typed "exit" and automatically restarted on this system without problems.Now, I can already restart the system 10.5.8 with no problems ...The first thing to do is have a copy of all documents, files, application installers and parameters (Mail Accounts, networking ...).Now I have to try if the first problem persists. "You need to restart your computer.
