My iMac Can't See Network Printer

Hi there,

Details:

iMac 10.9.5

Kyocera 3050ci

I have installed the printer through USB and can share it fine with regular printer sharing. However, I want to use the SMB scanner feature, so I need to set it up over the network.

Printer's IP is 192.168.50.203

iMac to printer is directly connected, but pings all timeout. The network activity light on the print side is active.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Benjamin

Is there some way to edit the original post with pertinent data? Seems like things will get lost in a thread.

Anyway, tried:

  • reset the printer system (unsuccessful)
  • unplugged the usb and installed the printer found over ethernet via usb. it installs fine but then when I try printing to it it just hangs up.
  • deleting the printer installed via usb and then replugging in the usb causes it to be automatically reinstalled. But when it does I get an error saying its IP is being used by another device on the network. Maybe this is the issue?

More updates:

- I think I caused issues the issues with the same IP. Should be fixed now. When I plug in the USB cable to the printer the printer hums and makes noise so I assume some communication is happening.

This is why my network stuff looks like. Ethernet has a self-assigned IP but may not connect to the internet. The copier status page lists the copier's IP as 192.168.50.203

Help!

Which printer is? have you changed the DSL or the name of the network?

I have a similar problem time ago with my printer, an HP LaserJet P1102, but all start to happens after the DSL stop working, the company changed the DSL but the printer simply can't connect with the internet to print wireless, after several months trying to solve it, I found a tutorial in HP webpage on how configure it the wireless through usb, I need to erase the last settings from the other DSL to the new one.
