Can't download videos to iPhone 5s even though theres space?

I have the iPhone 5s new 8.0.2 update and when i plug it into iTunes it says there is 1.5 gb free but when I go to download a movie or tv show thats under .5 gb it says that there is not enough storage space i need to free up 227.2 mb. This has never happened before and usually lets me download videos until the iTunes download bar is filled up (even though now it has 1.5 gb free.). Please help as there are some home videos i need to put on my iPhone.
