What is the FASTEST Internet Browser for OSX? (2014 Edition)

I'm a tech junkie, I love everything about technology.. especially FAST and EFFICIENT technology..

I am currently using Google Chrome, and have nothing bad so say about it.. I like that I can "sign in" to Google Chrome pretty much anywhere (including my iPhone 5s), and instantly have access to all of my Bookmarks and Bookmark folders..

I have seen a bunch of benchmark tests testing a bunch of available internet browsers on OSX.. however, the results seem a bit inconclusive and varying, and some that even support the notion that Safari is now FASTER than Google Chrome.. I'm not sure whether or not to believe it, and I don't really have the time/energy to conduct a series of tests on my own..

What do you guys think? Is Google Chrome still considered the "fastest" when it comes to browsing/downloading?

Yes, my friends above are all correct. Safari is said to be the fastest and in reality the most stable. The problem is with Google you get other programs creeping in that you really don't want. Safari is Number 1.

While you're at it, buy a Crucial SSD for your MacBookPro if you want speed. Mine opens in just 15 seconds from switch on. Beat that!

When I use Chrome, I'm frequently presented with pages that ask for the install of a plugin. Plus, my few uses for Java can't be used with Chrome because the current version of Chrome is still 32 bit.

Plus, I prefer the way Safari handles bookmarks.

In this case, a "memory leak" would be the difference between the amount of RAM used by Chrome when it starts and what is returned by Chrome when it quits.

Has anyone used or have any opinions about Lightning? I found some positive reviews around, and granted they all mention it's unrefined, they all seem to think it is the fastest. Great as that may be, before I fork out the $2 😐 I would like to get some more info regarding privacy and security.

This is an interesting read:

and once, on MacBook Air, I was checking my resources and saw that Chrome ate up a big chunk of disk storage space. Maybe in this day and age, one can say who cares with all this big storage we got plus you likely need a lot of cached data in storage for "fast" operation. But looking from the old school thought of limited memory and storage, it's not "efficient" and lightweight by old school standards. Here's a screenshot of what Chrome disk usage looked like on my Mac. I recall it doesn't look this way on Windows.

not advocating anything, just pointing out that Chrome (and FF) may not be all that fast or efficient on Mac.
