How access drop down menus in Chrome with keyboard only

How do you access the drop down menus with a keyboard only? Let's take imgur.com for example.

1) Once on the page and logged in you can do a command+F (for search) and type in the name of the user

2) Then press ESC to highlight/select on the user box which is highlighted in blue

3) From there how do you access the drop down menu with keyboard only? 😕

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.3)

You can set Shortcuts for Apps in

System settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts

Is there a way of doing this without having to set the keyboard options?

Are there any default settings that allow you to do this on a Mac?

Some are set, yes. You can find the default shortcuts in the drop down menus in google chrome behind the individual command.
