The problem is that it appears you can only upload to youtube in HD from the photo gallery which is different then the initial view you first come to from the camera.See screen shots...the steps are:
1. Open Camera2. View photos
3. Select "All Photos"
4. Select Upload button
4. Now HD is selected
Hope this helps someone - it frustrated the heck out of me!!!

Sep 20, 2016 6:32 AM in response to gwforemanby vickiesic,What an AWESOME find. I upload tons of videos in HD of my son, and didn't realize I was using the photos app to do it, until recently I tried the camera app. I thought it was YouTube. But you are so so right and I thank you!
Using the photos app only from now on!
