Did IOS 8 kill DRM playback feature in Seagate Wireless Plus?

Loved streaming movies purchased through iTunes with my Seagate. Worked like a charm, then IOS 8 bricked this feature. Seagate released an updated app to address IOS 8 bugs, but the DRM playback is dead without Apple.

Should I wait for Apple to fix, or start torrenting DRM-free copies of my 92 iTunes movies? I paid for them all; I feel pretty good about my legal standing.
