Can Apple ID be used in non-Apple applications?
Hi,
Can Apple ID be used in non-Apple applications?
I mean like Facebook or Twitter account on non-Facebook or non-Twitter apps. It would be rather convenient. 🙂

Yes, actually, your Apple ID is another form of an email account (such as gmail, yahoo, hotmail, ect.). Your Apple ID can be used for Instagram, Beats Music, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, Pinterist, ect. Also, just a tip, instead of saying non-Facebook or non-Twitter, just say other social networking applications, and give a few examples.

No, your Apple ID is not another form of email account. It is a user name (which happens to be an email address) and a password. These credentials are used to log into various Apple Services. Your Apple ID cannot be used to log into Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. You may use the same email address as your username for those services and, if you don't care about security, you could use the same password as you do on your Apple ID.
You may be referring to an iCloud email address. That is another email address. It may or may not be your Apple ID. My Apple ID username happens to be my gmail address. Before that, it was my Earthlink address.
Thank You for your time to explain.
In my original question I wondered if Apple ID can be used to authenticate to non-Apple apps, and that the authentication service would be provided by Apple servers and not by the non-Apple app server.
I have found several speculations on the internet regarding this question, that state that Apple might start provide such authentication service in the future. But I haven't found any hints regarding this on official Apple site.
Maybe You know some link where Apple explicitly says that it is not providing such service, or outlines the plans for the future regarding this service?

Using iOS 8, Apple allows apps to use Touch ID to lock and unlock apps on the device. I've heard nothing about Apple providing and authentication service a la Google's OAuth. As speculation about Apple products and services is prohibited here, I really wouldn't want to hazard a guess. Apple is generally very tight-lipped about future plans. Historically, it seems Apple has waited to release products until they think they can do it better than it's been done before, so, who knows?
