So I have updated to iTunes 12, and as far as I can tell, they have not added 'My Alerts' back as a feature. And with the massive redesign overhaul, I think my suspicions were right that some designer convinced some product manager to drop the feature to make the app look 'prettier.' I've read many articles that say fewer and fewer people are buying downloads these days and are switching to streaming services like Spotify. The removal of this feature is seriously going to escalate that and will most definitely impact the iTunes Music sales bottom line. Bad bad move Apple.
Meanwhile, this is the useless response I got from Apple customer support (and I did fill out the feedback form (which by the way has not been updated to include iTunes 12 or iPhone 6 choices)).
"Thank you for writing to iTunes Store Support. My name is Rachelle and I’m glad to be your Advisor for today.
Upon reading your email, I see that you would like to know the reason why “My Alerts” link has been removed to iTunes Store features. Please allow me to check this for you.
I carefully checked on this and found that this feature has been removed with most recent release of software. I've done some research and have found this discussion on Apple’s discussion boards. Please click on the link below:
