What has happened to my alerts in iTunes?

hey there,I usually use the My Alerts click in the iTunes store. It has recently disappeared. I was wondering if it may have been moved or discontinued.

Does anyone here know what might have happened to it? Thanks and I hope is well with everyone.

I posted the same topic 3 days ago, without answers.

Actually, till 2/3 days ago "my alerts" was still available inside a musical genre.

Now it completely disappeared.

It was the function I used the most in order to find music I like.

I noticed the missing "My Alerts" link in iTunes on Friday, October 10. I promptly emailed iTunes to get an answer. I received a reply from them on Monday, October 13 in which a customer care representative needed more information about the problem in order to assist. I explained to this person as clearly as I know how what is missing, when it went missing, what computer I was using, as well as the version of OS and iTunes I had installed.

Nothing.

I've not heard a thing, so I hope it's under investigation.

Like one of the above blogs, I use the "My Alerts" link almost exclusively to find new content. Without this assist, my purchases have declined to next to nothing. I refuse to believe they purposefully discontinued this link, as it was a huge revenue source for them. I also refuse to believe they will not put it back on once they figure out what has happened.

Over the years, iTunes/Apple has made it more and more challenging to find content. I do not understand how a company can undermine streams of revenue.

Apple....please fix this.

I am also ****** of that 'My Alerts' is missing. I am a music-a-holic, and 'My Alerts' is the #1 place I discover new music on iTunes. I just contacted customer support. I'll let you know how that goes. I have a sneaking suspicion that a designer felt there were too many links and got the ok to remove some links so the page would look better. However, as mentioned, the amount of revenue generated off this feature has to be very high. Removing this feature was a big mistake.

Now that I think about it, we get a weekly email with 'My Alerts.' Maybe there is a link to the feature there?

I've been doing my homework on this issue, as I am accustomed to using the "My Alerts" link on the homepage of iTunes. I spoke directly with an Apple Care Specialist today (Wednesday, October 15, 2014) about this issue. After a lengthy discussion and some research on the part of the Apple Care Specialist, I discovered that this link has been permanently removed from the current version of iTunes. It may reappear, but in a different form, when iTunes is updated with version 12.

The reason for the removal of this link was vague at best, but had to do with the potential for a security breach with one's account. If I misunderstood the reason for the removal of the "My Alerts" link, I apologize, but this is what I surmised from our discussion.

I explained to the Apple Care Specialist that at the very least Apple could have notified customers of its removal along with a brief explanation. Instead, many of us were left scratching our heads wondering if the link ever existed at all, or if our computers have somehow been compromised.

In short, I was told that the next version of the "My Alerts" link will be available with the newest version of iTunes set to release sometime next week.

I hope this thread has been helpful to those who, like me, rely heavily on this link to explore new content.

Thanks for reading!

So I have updated to iTunes 12, and as far as I can tell, they have not added 'My Alerts' back as a feature. And with the massive redesign overhaul, I think my suspicions were right that some designer convinced some product manager to drop the feature to make the app look 'prettier.' I've read many articles that say fewer and fewer people are buying downloads these days and are switching to streaming services like Spotify. The removal of this feature is seriously going to escalate that and will most definitely impact the iTunes Music sales bottom line. Bad bad move Apple.

Meanwhile, this is the useless response I got from Apple customer support (and I did fill out the feedback form (which by the way has not been updated to include iTunes 12 or iPhone 6 choices)).

Please send Apple feedback expressing your desire for My Alerts to come back. The more people that sends feedback, the better the chance Apple can bring it back. I know that, indicated above, that Apple said it will come back with iTunes 12 (which it hasn't, I tried), it doesn't hurt to send them the feedback anyway. We need to let them know how important this feature is to all of us.

Please send feedback. Hopefully, this can get us My Alerts back!

I noticed this too. It's a weak substitute at best and is not often updated.

The original "My Alerts" alerted you to artists, who you may or may not not have already purchased through iTunes. I expect a more robust "alert" from iTunes. As it is, I have to work twice as hard to find new content. I hope iTunes is reading these posts and makes an immediate correct. I need my old iTunes back, not this iTuned-Out version!

What has happened to my alerts in iTunes?
