In iMovie 10.0.5 pictures are appearing as green boxes instead of the actual photo

In iMovie 10.0.5 pictures are appearing as green boxes instead of the actual photo. I have my event open, and while browsing through my pictures some appear normal, and some just appear as a green picture. The thumbnail shows the photo, but in the viewer it just shows up as green or sometimes distortion. I have tried manually exporting the photo from iPhoto and importing into iMovie and it does not fix the issue.
