I tried to clear map history on iphone 5 , version IOS 8 many times but 😟 fail so what will I do ?

On my iPad I can tap the URL search field and a recents window opens with a clear button.
so what will I do ??!!

If the word clear is blue try a reset. Press and hold both the Home and Power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds for your iPad to start on it's own.
If clear is grey go to settings> general> rstrictions and remove all restrictions.
there is NO clear button anymore. The bookmark icon is gone and replaced with the forward button (blue square with arrow). the feature appears to be gone.

Thank you. It must be different from an iPhone and a iPad. I have a clear button in recents and edit button in Favorites on my iPad.
Tap url search field; tap favorites; tap clear button.
