Oct 13, 2014 1:57 PM in response to 68nickby randers4,Are you sure it's an alias address? You can't remove your main @icloud.com address.

Oct 13, 2014 10:47 PM in response to randers4by 68nick,Yes rangers. I find the alias at > iCloud.com > Mail > Settings (low left corner) > Account. I can see iCloud/iCloud IMAP and "Add new alias" to the left, and my account information to the right. It is here things start to go wrong. My name is displayed correct, but below is the old email address which cannot be removed. I can add new alias and delete them again, but I cannot delete the old email address. Don't know why?

Oct 14, 2014 12:16 PM in response to Old Toadby 68nick,Thanks Old Toad, but I try to remove the alias online from iCloud - from the screen dump you send show. I can add new alias and remove them as well. Maybe I got it all wrong?
The problem is, my primary email address is 100% correct, but where it say "Email address" on your screen dump, I have an faulty email address which cannot be removed? The faulty email address come from a person who try to log into and create a new Apple ID on my iPad 6 months ago. The person did not have access to my password but my Apple ID (my email address) was of course available in the iPad. I cannot understand how someone can add himself as "alias" in my Apple ID without access to my password? But this is how his email ended up on my Apple ID and I cannot remove it...

Oct 14, 2014 12:36 PM in response to 68nickby randers4,Contact Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click See All Products & Services>More Products & Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>The topic is not listed. See if they can explain what's going on and remove it for you. (The call should be free but you will need to provide your serial number, which you will find in Setting>General>About.)

Oct 14, 2014 1:14 PM in response to randers4by 68nick,Thanks randers4 for your suggestion, but I already spoke to Apple Support, plus my authorized Apple dealer in Sweden. Both Apple Support and my dealer are surprised to see the faulty email in my Apple ID, but they cannot remove it (they have got my Apple ID and Password to log into my account). Anyhow, because they are not able to remove it, one of them recommended me to create a new 2'nd Apple ID. But when I asked what will happened with all updates, subscriptions, apps, programs, music, movies, etc. related to the Apple ID in question, then the conversation stopped. I turn to this forum to see if someone else can help me?

Oct 14, 2014 1:22 PM in response to 68nickby randers4,As you may know, purchased media, and any app updates, are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them so creating a second ID won't prevent you from continuing to use your original ID for app updates.
As far as I know, you cannot remove an @icloud.com address from an iCloud ID, you can only remove an @icloud.com alias address. Besides, if Apple said they couldn't do it, I doubt anyone can. You could always call Apple back and try to escalate it to a senior advisor. Otherwise I'm not sure what to suggest.

Oct 14, 2014 1:39 PM in response to randers4by 68nick,Again thanks for answer. Yes, the faulty email that cannot be removed from my Apple ID is a @icloud.com address, and yes I believe you are right about the calling Apple back.
I do not believe the person who managed to put the faulty email in my Apple ID can access my ID today (I change password 2 times since), it is just the unpleasant feeling of seeing another persons email in my account. The person in question was once my colleague, but he work for a competitor today and I use my Apple ID for my business so seeing his email in my Apple ID not a pleasant feeling...
Once again, thanks for your response!

Dec 10, 2015 9:30 PM in response to randers4by Andresmb93,Hi
I have the same problem!!! can you please tell me if the problem is already resolved?
-
Dec 31, 2015 6:27 PM in response to 68nickby HauteDork,Same issue. Did you ever find a resolution? I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with Apple. The techs were dumbfounded. It seems as though this is a HUGE glitch/flaw in their design.

Feb 26, 2016 5:25 PM in response to llmasroorllby aj1005,I am having the same problem. I send messages in iMessage and my contacts are seeing ******@icloud.com for my name and not my phone number. I don't even use that email account and most people don't know who it is cause it does not have my name in the email. The only way for me to get rid of it seem to be disabling iMessage. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

May 19, 2016 9:31 PM in response to aj1005by MacNewbie2574556,aj1005 - I think you can change this.
In Messages, go to Preferences>Accounts
Select your iCloud account
On the right, you'll set the settings tab.
At the bottom of the page, you can select the ID that new messages are created from.
Hope this helps.
Personally, I would like to be able to get rid of the @mac and @icloud IDs altogether, but I can see why Apple keeps them around - I just recently had some old college friend look me up using the way old @mac ID.
Good luck!
