iPhone 6 8.0.2 Very High Data Usage!

Were you ever able to find a fix for this? I am having the same issue. Doing a restore and switching out phones has not helped.

have you check settings > Cellular > Scroll down to the apps and it will show what is using the data. It may be a app in the back ground sucking it up.

if so go to General and turn off background app refresh and see if it stops

Yep! Have tried all those tips and tricks. Turned off background app refresh, turned off cellular data for some apps, adjusted icloud setting, deleted music streaming apps, etc. The problem still persists.

It sounds like you have done well in troubleshooting the issue yourself. I would immediately say update. I am also an iPhone user and in the past had high data usage, it turned out it was an app (non native) that was eating up data.

Have you checked email usage? Sometimes using pop protocol can lead to downloading emails and all attachments so if you have a pop email account and you're iPhone catches the email first it will download directly to your phone. Also is the device being used as a hotspot? Even when connected to wifi I believe the hotspot uses data.

If you have checked your usage settings and that was not successful in narrowing the issue down I would say update to see if Apple has already addressed the issue in one of the updates. If that doesn't work I would set up a genius bar appointment and get yupr device checked by an apple rep because that does sound abnormal, most of the time with extreme data usage ive noticed the devise's software has been tampered with (jail breaking etc).

Updated last night. It still used 500mb over a 12 hr period, while being idle.

have you done a DFU restore? DFU mode to Restore

its the only real clean way to 100% restore it.

Indeed, i have tried that. I was on a chat with an Apple rep the day before yesterday, and he was kind enough to screenshare and walk me through the restore steps. I honestly feel i have exhausted every option listed in this thread, but i (along with others, according to various other forums) still have the same issue. AT&T and Verizon customers both report the same problem.

hmmm. weird. yea i watch my data very close and im on AT&T and have not seen that problem nor has my roommate.

ooo i wonder if there is some weird problem with the Sim card. iv seen sim cards do and cause some weird problems. have you had that replaced yet?

That is something i have not tried, so thanks for the suggestion. I have also turned off LTE in hopes the slower speeds will help conserve what data i have left for this billing cycle. I'll report back if there are any changes. Thanks so much to everyone for all your tips!

Can you check settings -- general -- usage -- battery usage to see what is using the most of your data?

Make sure you have the actual tabs in safari or other web browser closed not just the app. If you have a webpage open in one of the tabs and it is a website that constantly updates it data then it can still be using data even when the app is closed, also I would check on notification settings if you haven't already.

Yes, but the total amount used between apps and system services does not add up to the amount listed on the 'current period' line (yes, i calculated. I have been THAT desperate). I will try having AT&T check my sim card this weekend.
