Q: Why is the Apple TV Remote App So Glitchy All Of A Sudden?

I've owned my 2nd Gen Apple TV for at least four years.  It has been great, and the Remote App has been a great addition for use on my iPad and iPhone.  However, since the iOS8 update, this app has been absolutely terrible.  Connectivity issues abound, and the only thing that ever seems to help at all is the complete reboot of the device containing the remote app.  Please fix this issue... it's not okay...

In the ASC forums, you are talking to users just like yourself. We can't fix issues due to bugs in Apple's software. If you believe what your are experiencing is the result of a bug, consider filling out one of the forms at https://www.apple.com/feedback/.

If you think it is something other users might be able to help you resolve, more info describing the details of your connectivity problems would help.

Have you tried all the steps in this article.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.

You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.

There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
