i have a problem with itv player on apple tv from my iPad when I try to play over AirPlay I get sound but no pictures the tv screen stays on the Apple TV opening page. It plays fine on my iPad but not on Apple TV. I can play it with my iPhone on Apple TV without any problems. I have recently carried out the latest upgrade on my iPad could this be the problem. Any help would be appreciated

Apple mirroring facilities including HDMI and Lightning cables are not supported by the ITV Hub. These features may have worked previously, however the feature is not yet fully supported and may stop working or work intermittently.
Unless it's changed, since I haven't tried it for some time, iTV player blocks the use of AirPlay. Since AirPlay mirroring works by default, clearly iTV have chosen to add the ability to block AirPlay on purpose.
Interesting--since the ITV player app clearly states that ITV player works with the newer iPads(+ the Mini) air playing with a 2nd gen apple tv
Just a note that you're responding to a thread from 4 months ago. If the app states that it works then there is a glitch, but it's still the developers responsibility to take care of it.
I am having the same issue, I thought it was my iPad 2 and tried everything, but, it did not work.
I was in touch with apple any everybody I could think of but no luck.
I now have a new iPad air plus a new apple tv Gen 3 and its still happening. Sound, but no picture
iTV player only works if Airplay mirroring is activated
The mirroring button is just under the Airplay speaker choice tick boxes for Ipad Mini.
Earlier IOS did not have this option

If you're getting only sound then that's not mirroring. Contact the developer

it mirrrors the iPad screen until I press Play then I get sound on TV but no picture... turn the program off and it's mirroring again.
It works with other apps etc just not itv or iplayer
Then the developer has blocked mirroring and it is reverting to basic AirPlay, which hasn't been enabled for that app
Well that's dead weird as it says on the app that it's supports AirPlay and Apple TV and also on itv website too.
I Always used to watch it this way as I habe never had conventional TV. Seems strange that they would stop its use?
A developer can choose to change it at anytime, if an update has caused an issue then it's still up to them to rectify it.

Same issue but there is a solution. Go to the itv website from your iphone browser and mirror that - it works. Really well.
