Question

"Restrictions Do Not Allow Explicit Content"???

Downloaded a few podcasts yesterday. Listened to one of them on the ride home last night (from my iPhone, after syncing). Tried to pick up where I left off this morning, and these particular podcasts are "grayed out" and, when tapped, say "Content Not Allowed. Restrictions do not allow explicit content". I checked my iTunes preferences (Parental), nothing is checked, no restrictions. These are the very same podcasts I was listening to 12 hours ago! And they play fine on my computer, within iTunes. Just won't play on the iPhone after syncing. And it's just these podcasts (Start Up by Alex Blumberg -- far from explicit or pornographic). All the others are playing fine on the iPhone.

Any ideas?

If you're explicit content settings is grayed out in Restrictions, try changing you're region to US or U.K. That should change at least change some settings if not allow you to select explicit content.

I have the same problem!

Restrictions does not let me play explicit content!

I can not play a lot of my Podcasts anymore, this problem has started after I updated to iOS 8.4.

In the 'Allowed Content' section in Restrictions - Music, Podcasts & iTunes U is grayed out and I cannot change it from Clean to Explicit.

Someone please help!

PS: I am on the Indian iTunes store.

The link you sent suggest to just go to settings>general>restrictions>Music,Podcasts..>Turn Explicit On but if you check the attached screenshot, the Music,Podcasts&iTunesU is greyed out so we cannot toggle the switch between clean & explicit. Problem is unfortunately still very much unresolved.

i changed the "Ratings for" to another country, maybe that will do the trick...

I have the exact same problem on my iPad and it started with the iOS 8.4 update. The restrictions are disabled on it but iTunes seems not to care and it doesn't let me download my Podcasts anymore 😟

Is there any word from Apple? If this is an intentional change from 8.3 to 8.4 or its an oversight?

Had the same problem; podcast suddenly gave the restriction error after updating. I fixed it by enabling restrictions, then disabling it without changing anything else. Everything unlocked for me after that.

Done on iPhone 6S, iOS 9.1.

I've had this problem for months and it has still not been fixed. Tired of daily having to go to the restrictions menu. Apple please fix this now.
