Q: Reminders not syncing properly with iCloud and iOS 8

I have an iMac running OS X 10.9.4 and an iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.0.2.  I use Reminders on both my iMac and my iPhone and iCloud is turned on for both devices.

If I create a reminder on my iMac, I can see it immediately when I log in to iCloud.com and go to Reminders.  It does not show up on my iPhone.  If I edit this reminder on either the iMac or iCloud.com, the changes sync immediately between the iMac and iCloud.com but NOT my iPhone.

If I create a reminder on iCloud.com, it immediately shows up on my iMac.  It does not show up on my iPhone.  If I edit this reminder on either the iMac or iCloud.com, the changes sync immediately between the iMac and iCloud.com but NOT my iPhone.

If I create a reminder on my iPhone, it shows up on my iMac and iCloud.com.  If I edit this reminder on either the iMac or iCloud.com, the changes sync immediately between the iMac and iCloud.com but NOT my iPhone.

In order for any edits/deletes to sync to/from the iPhone, I either need to create the event on the iPhone, at which point it syncs any other changes, or I need to create a new dummy event and then delete it, at which point it syncs any other changes.

Basically, it seems like the iPhone needs to initiate a "hey iCloud, here are changes from my end.  Oh, there are changes from other devices?  OK, I'll show those changes" protocol, otherwise it just doesn't receive any updates from iCloud.

I don't think it's an issue with my iCloud account, since Reminders on my iMac and Reminders on iCloud.com sync just fine.

On my iPhone, I have tried:

-Force quitting and re-opening the app

-Changing the Reminders sync options (Settings -> Reminders -> Sync)

-Turning Reminders off and back on under Settings -> iCloud -> Reminders

-Turning the iPhone off and back on

None of those methods have fixed this issue.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue or is this unique to my iPhone?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I did some research with http://lemonjar.com/iosconsole/ (GREAT app ):

    Nov 20 17:52:12 iPhone-von-Robin-Kluth dataaccessd[120] : 0x15e625000|CalDAV|Warn |Ignoring calendar refresh task because we have no password.

    Nov 20 17:52:12 iPhone-von-Robin-Kluth dataaccessd[120] : 0x15e625000|CalDAV|Warn |CalDAV refresh task failed with error Error Domain=DAErrorDomain Code=63 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (DAErrorDomain error 63.)"

    Nov 20 17:52:12 iPhone-von-Robin-Kluth dataaccessd[120] : 0x15e625000|CalDAV|Warn |==== CalDAV refresh FAILED for "iCloud" (XXX): Error Domain=DAErrorDomain Code=63 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (DAErrorDomain error 63.)".

Reminder gets its data via CalDAV. Every time, some devices posted a change, this error shows up.

Suggestion to apple: If CalDAV has no password, why not aksing user for it?

EDIT: Ok, it's working again! I simply accessed "Settings -> iCloud *Your Name* >" (first entry). My iPhone asks me immediately for the password. After login, the error disappears and my sync was working again.

I recently noticed the same problem with Calendar events not automagically syncing with changes in iCloud or my Mac.  Appointments made on my iPhone DID sync properly to the other iCloud devices.  I could also manually sync the iPhone6 Plus by pulling down on the Calendars screen, though.   I too did all the things the useless auto-reply iCloud Troubleshooting forum entry info said.  I was about to do Bibyfok's recommendation.  Instead, I first tried just LOGGING-IN to my iCould account from Settings>iCloud (top of page line with my AppleID).  I went back and checked and everything was working.  I did not have to recreate the iPhone iCloud link.

I had the same problem as you, and I tried the same things you said. And nothing worked. I had an Iphone 4s, Ipad 4 (all of them with ios), and a Mac Book Pro (mid 2009) with Yosemite. Ipad and Mac worked fine with reminders but not the Iphone.

Yesterday I was trying different apps like wunderlist, but suddenly, I don't know why I went in the settings - icloud, I clicked on my account name and I realised that the password was not there, I wrote the password there and magically it works. I tried it different times, and it is working. Hope this can help you.

This (Settings - iCloud -  Tap Name - Enter Password) instantly worked for me as well !!!!!

    Lets see if it continues.

Actually, this only worked for me for a little while. Now it is back to not syncing unless I force refresh in the calendar app or go to the iCloud settings and enter my password. Kind of a pain to have to do all of that just to get it to sync.

I was having the same problem and have tried everything that everyone else here had tried with no luck. As I was going through the same thing AGAIN this morning I noticed that "Fetch New Data" was off in the "mail, contacts, calendar". So I set it to PUSH and that solved my problem INSTANTLY! So simple. If I had only noticed that a couple of months ago. Hope that works for all of you.

Push may be enabled, but when you tap on it you should get another screen for everything you want pushed. Be sure that iCloud is set to push. Ie: settings/ mail, contacts, calendars /fetch new data/push/icloud/push

I have the same problem, generally I have to "fiddle around" enabling disabling settings  and ******* around, just want it to work please.

Sync is unreliable, in my case I user reminders regularly but note that items in lists infrequently sync reliably on iDevices

That doesn't work. It may seem like it works for a little bit but then it will go back to not syncing. And all that going to Settings > iCloud > *Your Name* is log you into your iCloud account so you can make changes to it.

Funny how there are so many lemons embedded in the lovely crisp Apple.

Tried solutions. Worked sometimes then failed later. Intermittent faults are far more annoying than constant faults.

Ditched reminders and moved to Google tasks. Instant sync across all devices ALL the time. Lovely app GoTasks which has far better interface than reminders as well as item indents.

I experienced the same problem with Reminders not syncing across the devices. Reading through the support site I did find out that my date setting on the iCloud web site was wrong and set to United States when it should have been  UTC +2 h . After this I got the reminders to sync also to my iPhones (5s and 6+)
