Lastest Software updates have destroyed my imac and iphone

It started with my iphone that it would freeze when i swipe to unlock the screen then there were a ton of synching errors with apps. Then Apps didn't work so i did a restore. The restore took 5 attempts and has still failed. My Itunes wont recognize my iPhone as a phone keeps saying this is an invalid operation.. i've never seen that before. So now when I try to re download the latest IOS and Itunes it will not show the screen it shows a blank screen, tried for Itunes store as well same issues. I'm about ready to give up on Apple. The latest updates have only caused my machines to become nothing more then door stops. I'm not made of money so buying a new mac and iphone are not on the table. Literally the worst issue i've ever had on these machines.

i have an iphone 5 and it is running iOS8
