Remote App doesn't work anymore with Apple TV

AAfter updating to the new iOS8 on my iPad and iPhone unfortunately the remote app is no longer working with the Apple TV. I have reconnected the devices again and the media them is showing up on the iPhone but without a name and the remote app can't connect. This was all working fine and I appreciate any Tipps to solve this proble. Have to add that I also updated the Apple TV Software to the latest version. So no hardware changes only software updates

THanks for the quick response. Yes that was what I tried so far. All the recommended steps out of the Apple support site. Unfortunately was not solving my issue.

Are you able to try your remote app with someone else's set up or at an Apple Store. I don't have any issues with remote app so tend to think your problems might be related to your network, testing elsewhere might determine whether this is the case or not.

I'm having the same issue. iPhone 5s, iOS 8.0.2. Everything was fine until today. I updated the Apple TV to 7.0.1 today, and now the Remote app can't see the Apple TV. The Apple TV can see and play media from my iTunes on my laptop, and I can stream programming on the Apple TV, so I believe my network is ok. Could something have gone wrong with this last update?

Update: It is working after I updated the iPhone to 8.1.

I have an apple tv and ipod touch 5 gen with remote app. OS's are up-to-date and home sharing is turned on in the app and on the Apple TV. They've been working fine for two years. Now the Apple TV says I need to enable home sharing on the remote app and the remote app says I need to enable home sharing on the apple TV. I've re-booted both devices and the network. Even changed to a different network .. Nada.. they still don't recognize each other's home sharing. Advice?

Having the same problem here since updating to 7.1 on Apple TV. Remote App never even sees the ATV anymore. My macs can occasionally find it, and I need to restart the ATV pretty much any time I want to use home sharing.

I switched from hard wire to wifi and I am able to see the Apple TV and use the iPhone as a remote again

same here, remote will not work with tv. Works fine with computer, iTunes, music etc…but not TV. My son downloaded app on his samsung 6..works perfectly. I have an iPhone!
