Hi,
I want to use 'Sunrise calendar' as my default calendar app on my iPhone 5s.
Could someone guide me how can i do that?
Also I want to make sure that Sunrise can show notifications

You cannot.
The sunrise app should show up in the Notification center settings as would most apps: Settings app > Notifications. Set whatever notifications you wish to get. In addition, You should be able to add it to the Today view in the Notification Center pull down.
But there is no way to set it as the default app system wide. some alternate mail apps or browsers may allow you to do this within their contexts..
