Q: Horizonal lines while watching footage from capture viewer

Hello

I see small horizonal lines while I watch videofootage from viewer of Final cut express 4. This happens before I start capturing. Is this normal? After capturing lines have disappeared.

- Footage seem to be okay when I watch it from camera's window

- I tried capturing with different firewire cable

- I tried to do this with different camera

    Is your footage interlaced?

If you load the ingested clip to the viewer or canvas and set the display size to 100%, do you see the lines return?

This is normal if you are dealing with interlaced footage. FC suppresses one field in displaying media within FC - unless you are set to display 100%. Computer monitors (as you have discovered) do not display interlaced material correctly.

I think that my footage is interlaced because its format is pal dv. I can see small horizonal lines when I set the display 100%. In this case lines are not so strong (easy to notice) as in capture viewer.
