How can I delete apps from imac 0S 10.8.5

I'm trying to delete apps like Chess, Stickies, etc. I keep getting a message that it's required by Mac OS X.

For me it's a waste of space. Any suggestions?

G5, imac, mac book pro

You can not and should not try to delete native OS X App's. Beside there is no real space gain from those App's when compared to your User Libraries and Files.

You would be better off installing a larger HDD or moving some files to a good external hard drive.

To move your iPhoto Library, iTunes Library or Movies to an external drive, check out the following links.

iPhoto: How to move the Library folder to a new location

iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder

iMovie ’08: Storing or moving your video library to an external hard disk

Personally I prefer upgrading my internal HDDs to a larger ones instead of moving Libraries off to an external hard drive. To get an idea of what it takes to upgrade the HDD, go to > https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iMac_Intel choose your model and look at the Hard Drive guide.
