Locked out of the application and tried to replace by new down load with no changes. Can't trash it, Can't replace it. Have on DVD new version of i-Life that I can reinstall? Would this be a advantage in replacing i-Photo? ANy ideas as to what I'm up against?

Not sure what's wrong with your iPhoto app. But you can't trash it on your mac? Have you tried using Disk Utility to repair the permissions?

You could try creating a new user account, logging in using that account, and try opening iPhoto again. That would help isolate the issue – i.e., whether it's a problem with the iPhoto program itself, or a user account-based issue (library or preferences corruption, for example).

If it works in the new account, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Looking at the Kaspersky as a trojan horse, making it appear like all is well. After making the choice to down load a new Supplemental Update for Mt. Lion 10.8.5 - I turned off Kaspersky in the middle and was disconnected right away. Any advise other then removing the application? On a Wi Fi system that is WEP.

So much use on the Wi-Fi made me a believer that it was doing its work and helping? Then I find stuff like this? And by the way I came across a online advertisment by Kaspersky claiming they worked with Apple on a project that put the application in the Apple Store for down load. No link. Apple was communicated to for this concern, stated there is no store result for this Kaspersky claim? So User uploaded file

iPhoto only error issue that might show up. Required to rebuild to data base. New window asking me to select from a list to find another Library, or create one that I can use to import photos later. Making it the Library I chose to open iPhoto. In the list it shows this - #1-iPhoto Library (default)

Tried the removal of the application and reinstalled new version of the App. Still locked.
