Predictive/autocorrect text wrong language

I'm typing along on US English keyboard on my English language set iPhone 4S with iOS 8.0.2, and all of a sudden as I type, instead of English suggestions, it is suggesting to me Spanish words. I'm seeing Spanish words appearing in the top three spots on the keyboard.

So, as I type "It is due on Tues. I have sold several but..." the phone is autocorrecting to "It is fue on Tues. I hace sold severas bit." Fue and hace are clearly Spanish words, for example. I click on the globe in the lower left to make sure I'm using English keyboard, and I am. I continue typing and suddenly I'm back in English. What can explain this?

I did temporarily switch to Spanish the other day to correct a problem with messed up icons on the desktop (apparently temporarily changing languages causes the icons to refresh). But since then I have switched the phone and the keyboard back to English, and I have typed several messages in English since switching back. It was just for a few minutes that the autocorrect dictionary seemed to switch to Spanish, then switch back to English as soon as I clicked the globe to check on its setting.

OK, this is weird. As I sit there and watch it, I can see the keyboard switch.

I start to type a message, I notice that suddenly, instead of "Ok, Yes, No" it has "De acuerdo, Si, No" so I click and hold on the globe and it says they keyboard is set to Spanish. And as I ponder what to do next, it changes to English and it changes back to "OK, Yes, No" at the top.

Maybe I just don't understand how the globe button works, but it's also possible that I'm switching languages unintentionally, but having used it for years, I'm amazed that I suddenly have developed this habit.

Ok, figured it out. Seems that when I switched to Spanish language earlier this week (as reported in my original post), Spanish got added to my list of keyboards. So, instead of toggling between English and Emoji it was toggling between English and Spanish. Going to Settings|General|Keyboard|Keyboards and choosing Edit, I was able to remove Spanish from the list. Somehow I regularly touch the globe instead of the 123 key, but I obviously notice it more readily when it switches to Emoji.

Frankly, the keyboard is much too small for my fingers (and I have skinny fingers), and I regularly type the wrong things. If it weren't for autocorrect, I would be in sad shape. Even when I'm slow and careful, I sometimes have to type a character several times for it to figure out what I'm typing. It's always been this way on this phone. 😟

Touching it seems to toggle between languages, while clicking and holding it brings it up and gives choices. I'm guessing I've recently developed a habit of touching it somehow, even though I've never had this problem in the past few years. In the past when I touched it, it toggled between English and Emoji, but somehow now it's now toggling between English and Spanish. The problem is compounded by the fact that when it toggles to Spanish, I don't notice it until I've sent a bunch of autocorrected texts. 😟 Is there a way to control which languages it toggles between?
